It is some chilly weather out here as they fight for a fair contract. Yesterday negotiations, there was some drama that was brought to the table. Take a look here. Nurses gathered outside Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan where they believe nurses were unlawfully terminated the night before the strike began. Hospital pushed back saying these care workers were fired for interfering with patient safety training for temporary nurses ahead of the strike including, quote, locking critical supplies designed to care for vulnerable newborns. Talks to reach an agreement got nowhere yesterday. Nurses calling to address issues like overcrowding in emergency rooms, poor patient to nurse ratios and workplace violence. Both Montefiore and Mount Sinai calling the unions offer unreasonable and costly, saying their demands would cost billions of dollars and raise the average nurse pay to close to $250,000. 15,000 nurses will be back out here on the picket lines again.
