The deployment of thousands of armed mass DHS agents to Minnesota has done our state serious harm. This is, in essence, a federal invasion of the Twin Cities and Minnesota, and it must stop. The move comes in the context of rising tensions in the capital cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, as mass protests are erupting following an ICE officer fatally shooting a local mother named Renee Good, who was a volunteer observer for one of the agency's law enforcement actions. In recent months, President Trump fixated on Minnesota's Somali immigrant population, seizing upon a Biden-era welfare fraud scandal involving the community. His administration says the ICE surge is about the fraud. The Twin Cities mayor rejected the notion. We don't use the word invasion lightly. What we are seeing is thousands, plural, thousands of federal agents coming into our city. And look, this is not about fraud. When you have a fraudster, you investigate, you charge, you prosecute, you hold the person accountable, and then they get put in jail as an individual. The case will be heard in a state federal court on Tuesday.
