A three-year-old boy from South Milwaukee was hospitalized after being found in critical condition and later tested positive for cocaine and THC. Initial claims by his mother, Melissa Boucher, that the child had ingested CBD gummies were contradicted by police investigations, which uncovered crack cocaine residue and paraphernalia in areas accessible to the child.

Boucher, who admitted to smoking crack cocaine in her bathroom a day before the incident, has been charged with neglecting a child causing bodily harm and maintaining a drug trafficking place. She is currently held on a $2,500 cash bond and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Court records show a three-year-old boy was taken by ambulance after being found at this apartment complex in dire condition last week. His mother originally told police he may have gotten into her CBD gummies, but an investigation found that wasn't true. State of Wisconsin v. Melissa Boucher. 43-year-old Melissa Boucher broke down in tears almost immediately in court, less than a week after prosecutors say her son was rushed to the hospital. Court records show police responded to children's when they learned the boy tested positive for cocaine and THC. Boucher's son ultimately survived. The criminal complaint says Boucher told investigators she didn't know how her child got drugs into his system because she quit using drugs a while ago. Police executed this search warrant at Boucher's apartment in South Milwaukee, where they found crack cocaine residue and paraphernalia in her kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. An officer noted that all of which were within easy access of a child. The search warrant shows Boucher later confessed she had smoked crack cocaine in the bathroom a day before prosecutors say her son ingested some. What's concerning is the age of the child, three and a half, with the cocaine and drugs in the child's system and then everything that's allegedly found in your house. I stopped by Boucher's listed address, but no one came to the door. Boucher is charged with neglecting a child causing bodily harm, followed by maintaining a drug trafficking place. She's being held here at the Milwaukee County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison. Reporting in Milwaukee, Ben Jordan, TMJ4 News.
