Nicholas Fountain, a long-serving supervisor and vice-chairman in Skippack Township, Montgomery County, has resigned after being arrested on multiple felony charges involving the repeated sexual assault of a minor. The township board unanimously accepted his resignation and stated it would cooperate fully with the investigation.

Fountain, who also owns local childcare businesses, is accused of abusing a child over several years and was also recently charged in Maryland after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit conversations with an undercover detective posing as a minor. He is currently jailed without bail, and the township is seeking candidates to fill his position.

Montgomery County supervisor resigns amid sexual abuse charges

A Montgomery County leader is facing disturbing sexual abuse allegations and is officially out of a job tonight. As our Dawn Timoney reports, the township where he served as a supervisor for more than 10 years taking action after learning about the charges. Nick Fountain is no longer a township supervisor here in Skipback Township. The board getting right to it, unanimously accepting his resignation at the start of tonight's meeting. The Skipback Board of Supervisors accepting Nicholas Fountain's letter of resignation at its regularly scheduled board meeting. The board calling on the 38-year-old vice-chairman to resign earlier this week after Fountain was arrested on multiple felony charges in connection with the repeated sexual assault of a nine-year-old child over the course of almost seven years. Several dozen people turning out tonight to see how this played out. It's a tragedy and my thoughts and prayers are with the families and the victims. I'm glad to hear that the resignation has been tendered. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Fountain was in a caregiving role to the victim at the time he committed this abuse. The criminal complaint says Fountain quote admitted this happened on multiple occasions and stated the last time this happened was just before the victim turned 16 years old. I was surprised and shocked to think that it happened here, but stuff happens everywhere. In late September, Fountain was charged in Maryland with allegedly engaging in sexually explicit online conversations with a Harford County Sheriff's Detective Sergeant who was posing as a 14-year-old boy. The board had no comment tonight except it will cooperate with the investigation. It said in a previous statement this week quote the actions alleged in those charges have no place in our community in Montgomery County or anywhere else and we vehemently condemn such behavior. Our thoughts are with anyone impacted by these allegations. According to Fountain's online bio, he is a father of three and daycare owner. His LinkedIn account states he owns Magnolia Children's Academy in Gilbertsville and Camp Magnolia in Skipback with his wife and father and has been a township supervisor for 12 years until tonight. Nick Fountain is jailed without bail. He has a preliminary hearing set for next week. The township supervisors are accepting letters of interest and resumes through October 15th. Then on October 29th, they'll be holding a special meeting. They'll hear from the top candidates and then vote at that meeting on Nick Fountain's replacement. Dawn Timoney
