I'm Lighthouse reporter Ben Jordan here to introduce you to a new investigative series you'll be seeing over the next several weeks on TMJ4. I think it's about time that issue. The main issue that affects the children is being addressed. It's about a public health crisis often overlooked in Milwaukee exposed in a series we call poisoned by paint. Nothing is being done about it. Each year, thousands of Milwaukee children fall victim to this health hazard affecting their brains and behavior, all because of what's on their walls and windowsills, lead paint. I don't want nobody else to go through what I have been through. After spending six months filing open records requests, we found 88 percent of children poisoned by lead since 2023 live in homes contaminated with lead paint. And many parents like Danielle Jones say they didn't know until it was too late. Once the city comes knocking on your door, you it's some underlining problems, but he never disclosed that type of information because it's all about a dollar. In this series, we will reveal the dozens of landlords who refuse to fix the problem, according to health department records. Hi there. Yes, my name is Ben Jordan. I'm a reporter with TMJ4.
