Authorities continue to search for hundreds of missing individuals as survivors attempt to recover belongings. Relief efforts are underway, with military personnel delivering critical supplies and volunteers raising funds, but the scale of the disaster means the region will require long-term assistance.

As the waters recede, authorities continue to search for hundreds of people who are still missing while survivors try to salvage what's left of their belongings. In Sri Lanka, military personnel have been deployed to deliver fuel, water and other critical supplies. It's a difficult wait for Taruka Kanangra. She lives in Newfoundland, but her parents are still in Sri Lanka. She plans to travel there soon to help with relief efforts. It is such an important part of our life that when a disaster like this happens, we give in 200%. Meanwhile, others are raising money for the victims. There's so many things that they need, you know, any little bit of funds will help. But right now, the focus is still on the immediate aftermath and rescuing those stranded. The biggest issue is getting into the communities where the waters are still high. They are still high.
