After nearly two years of studies, the NSW State Government has quietly abandoned its plans to add extra stops to the Metro West line. A furious Parramatta Lord Mayor said the decision does not make any sense.

This decision follows the rejection by turf club members to sell the Rose Hill track, effectively ending plans for new stations west of Sydney Olympic Park.

Local leaders, including the Lord Mayor of Parramatta, have expressed frustration, noting that additional stations at Silverwater and Camellia are crucial for supporting local housing strategies. While investigations continue into possible extensions for the new airport metro, government officials have indicated that no immediate commitments will be made, leaving decisions on further expansion to future administrations.

It then announced two potential stations are being investigated west of Sydney Olympic Park. But since turf club members rejected selling the Rose Hill track in May, the entire plan has now been scratched. We're not going to do it. It's not good enough. These two stations are very key in us being able to deliver housing in those areas. Investigations are continuing, however, into potential extensions to the new airport metro, connecting St Mary's to Tullawong and Bradfield to Glenfield and MacArthur. While the business cases for these potential lines will be completed within the next six months, don't expect government to commit to building them any time soon. I've got a full slate.
