The Danish public broadcaster is citing sources that suggest people with ties to the Trump administration have been trying to stoke divisions by promoting Trump's plans to take over Greenland. Sort of the feeling that, you know, when the Stasi's were working in East Germany everyone was like looking over the shoulder. And it's that kind of feeling that worries me so much because the population is so small. The covert recruitment of potential sympathizers is well known to the Danes. As a member of NATO, they watched Russia follow a similar strategy a decade ago in Ukraine. First, Russia recruited local Ukrainian supporters and then moved their forces out of nearby military bases to take over nearby territories. Greenland not for sale! Europeans are clearly concerned about Trump's persistence. Greenland is not to be sold, not to be taken. In a recent election, most Greenlanders voted for parties that favoured severing links with Denmark. But few expressed much interest in having Donald Trump rule them instead.
