For the fifth day, law enforcement officials in Providence appeared no closer to finding the gunman who burst into a Brown University classroom Saturday, killing two students and wounding nine others. They continue to search for this person of interest seen in the hours before the shooting, and today released an image of a second person who was also in proximity of that individual, hoping for something that could aid in the investigation. What is unknown to us where this person works is unknown to us if he was an affiliate of Brown. That's all unknown to us. The shooting occurred in a part of the engineering building where there were few cameras providing little useful video. So today, authorities asked the public to review their own security and phone footage in the hopes they may find something that leads them to the person of interest. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley acknowledged the community's frustration with the pace of the investigation. Their frustration is valid. I feel the same frustration and my neighbors feel the same frustration. We all want this to be resolved as soon as possible and an individual brought to justice. And so I'm in no way discounting that. I understand that. Former FBI agent Eric O'Neill said even though the manhunt has gone on for five days, it doesn't necessarily mean the gunman has fled the city and evaded authorities. You would expect that a fugitive would try to get to a train station, get to a to a airplane and leave the state. But that's not always the case, because people tend to try to go to ground where they're comfortable, where they feel safe, where they feel secure. And that can actually help law enforcement because it means that they don't have to expand the manhunt too far. And authorities admitted today they still don't know how many people were inside the classroom at the time of the shooting, but some of the students they've interviewed have described the shooter as resembling that person of interest they are struggling to find.
