Some people are not happy with the misdemeanor charge against him in that downtown fight, including David Montgomery, who we met last week at our W. C. P. O. Community Forum. The downtown fight top of mind for him and he had an opinion about it. So to defense lawyer Carl Lewis, Brett shows you why they feel this is still an unequal system of justice, disorderly conduct that doesn't seem to be equal to what was charged with the other people. David Montgomery has seen the videos of the downtown fight from july 26. And while he feels everyone who threw a punch and kick should face the consequences, the community should be deservedly suspicious of how it's being handled. He feels authorities need to hold everyone accountable, including this man who was seen on video slapping another man. There's no reason why this should not be a misdemeanor assault. Cincinnati defense attorney Carl Lewis feels as more time goes on in this case and no criminal charges are brought against the white suspects. But it makes individuals believe that there are two forms of justice. The prosecutor has all the authority and discretion to determine what charges they want to bring based on the evidence before them. David reminded me of what police chief Teresa Fiji said last month. Anyone who put their hands on another individual during this incident in an attempt to cause harm will face consequences. I confirmed today with Alex Stravinsky that he's the one charged with disorderly conduct for his alleged role in the downtown fight and will be in Cincinnati Municipal Court next week. There did seem to be some division in how the story was covered and how the story is being dealt with in the courts. I reached out to the city today to find out why they decided to bring a disorderly conduct charge to the white suspect in this case, who was also listed as a victim in the downtown fight. A spokesperson told me that the investigation is still ongoing and it's still possible more charges could be brought against anyone who was involved in the downtown fight outside City Hall.
