Now to the latest on Luigi Mangione. He's a suspect charged with murder for the death of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December. Fox 5's Arthur Chen is in lower Manhattan with more on what we can expect at his court appearance tomorrow. Arthur. Steve, Natasha, this is expected to be a very important court appearance taking place at 100 Center Street here. Not only important what's going to go on inside, but outside we see flyers posted all over the area that indicates that there will be a protest in support of Luigi Mangione at 8 a.m. outside here. Now, this hearing an indication that both New York State and federal prosecutors are getting close to starting the trial for Mangione. If convicted on federal counts, he faces execution. If convicted on state counts, he could be spending the rest of his life behind bars. Now, this case is a complex one centering on Mangione's stated motive of addressing the greed of insurance companies when he shot and killed the CEO of United Healthcare on a Midtown Manhattan Street in December of last year. The federal government is seeking to make an example out of the 27 year old by charging him with terrorism. But Mangione has also amassed unprecedented support from the public. The key here is who will move forward with his trial first? Will it be the federal government? Will it be the state government? Legal expert Arthur Idalla spoke about all this this morning while appearing on Good Day New York. What's happened now in Mangione is the Manhattan D.A. is not letting go of the homicide charges and the Southern District is not letting go of their terrorism homicide charges. So, guys, there's this like fight amongst two prosecutors that is not normal, not typical. And nobody really knows how it's going to result. It is interesting, though, I believe he still gets the most mail Mangione does in the M.D.C. where he is. And that's where Puff Daddy is and a lot of the notorious defendants are. But people are sending them gifts, which he doesn't get. But all kinds of mail and there's websites and there's legal defense funds. As for the hearing tomorrow, the judge could start hearing arguments about whether or not the manifesto and the ghost gun are admissible. Another issue is whether or not Mangione's HIPAA rights were violated when investigators accessed more than 100 pages of his medical records without his permission. The protests, it appears, starts around 8 a.m. outside 100 Center Street here tomorrow. And the court appearance is scheduled for 10 a.m. Luigi Mangione is expected to attend.
