A quadcopter drone recently dropped a bomb at the Asaraya public market west of the city. Yet, families still gather here for bread and water. They have nowhere else to go. While speaking to Abu Bilal Asaliya, an air strike hits close by. He says he's living in a tent he borrowed with no means to relocate. Today, there are negotiations. That's what they say. These negotiations have the aim of stopping the war. Oh, that's the Israelis bombing over our heads. I'm currently unable to flee to the north. I'm stuck here with my children in the street. They talk about so-called safe areas, and I'm living in a tent that doesn't even belong to me in a street that's been hit three times. Mohammed Kota collects basic necessities for his family, exhausted and desperate for the war to end. Every day we lose someone dear to us. I came to collect some belongings and then to head south, which is completely unknown to me. Every day is worse than the day before. Enough is enough with this war. We are exhausted and now completely worn out, and we have lost so many loved ones. Having managed to leave Gaza City, I'm now among the few who were able to escape. For many residents, however, leaving is not an option. They remain trapped, unable to afford to get out. They are closely watching and waiting for the outcomes of ongoing talks on a possible ceasefire while trying to survive daily air strikes and incursions. Displaced mother Siham Kanita says even the cost of food or shelter is more than her family can bear. We have no money, no food, no water, and no tents. We stay in a street here, and we will also stay in a street in the south. This war must come to an end. We need to live in peace and security. The winter is coming with no mattresses and no blankets and no warm clothes. Under the shadow of smoke and fire, residents remain trapped, hoping a peace deal will bring some relief.
