Film industry in Nigeria today is branding the cultures and branding us in the eyes of the international global audience in terms of letting people know how we dress, how we feel about certain things, our culture and things that we do. Definitely they are. However, I think we can still improve in that aspect. The Africans, we are making the movie, so we have to know which we want the people to know. We have to give them the product to educate them, to teach them what we need to show them and then to react on it. Lots of things are going on in the country, in our immediate environment and filmmaking is a tool to change some of those negative perceptions that impact us socially and otherwise. According to a UK journalist and film director, this year's theme is perfect for the time we live in. Being able to focus a lens for social change on say Northern Nigeria, Nigeria and Africa generally, I think it's time for young filmmakers particularly to rise up and start telling the stories about Africa from Africa rather than letting other people tell their story.
