J.J. Spaun has won the U.S. Open Golf Championship at Oakmont, finishing as the only player under par. Spaun's victory was sealed with a dramatic 64-foot putt on the final hole, capping off a comeback after a challenging front nine and a rain delay.

Despite bogeying most of the first six holes and going five over on the front nine, Spaun rallied in the latter half of his round. His performance on the final two holes, including strong drives and a key approach shot, led to his memorable win. The victory is noted as one of the more iconic finishes in recent major golf tournaments.

Man, I can't believe my pre-tournament pick brought it home, Dom. That's not true. No, that's not true. He did bring it home, but he was not my... I don't know, was he yours, J.J. Spahn? We should have thought about that, because he's been playing out of his mind ever since the playoffs. The players' championship, yeah. At the players, I think the playoff loss, maybe sometimes there are defeats that lead to the greater good, right? If you look at J.J. Spahn, you probably learned a ton from that playoff defeat to Rory McIlroy, but that shot right there, I mean, talk about... I can't, in recent memory, think of a more iconic way to end a major golf tournament than a 64-foot curler to actually win it. And by the way, the only player in red figures, right, minus one for the championship, and he did so with that 64-foot putt. To me, it was truly fun to watch, only because, Joe, and I know you watched this. First of all, Oakmont is, I know, one of your favorite courses. I have yet to play it, so I haven't experienced it, but what I would say is this. Everybody, including myself, probably rid off J.J. Spahn in the first six holes of his final round. He pretty much bogeyed every hole to start his round. He went off in 40, five over, right, in the front nine, and then came back after the rain delay and just absolutely put on a clinic. Those last two holes were amazing. I think some of the earlier putts... He only hit a two-putt, that one, and lagged it up. Some of his earlier putts, and the drive on 17 was just... And the drive on 18. He just stepped up. You know, they say that to win a major, you need good things to happen to you. When that approach shot hit the pin, that beautiful approach, they hit it and then ran off the front of the green, just sat there stoically watching it happen. That's when I thought, well, when that happens, you're not meant to win. And then to come back from that, from that adversity... What I would say was Larry Mize, don't you think? Larry Mize, I think he was against Greg Norman. Remember that chip on 11? Yes, yeah, yeah. That was the kind of thing you don't see very often either, just like that putt.
