According to CBS News sources, this event led U.S. President Trump to reconsider the United States' approach to the conflict, particularly due to concerns about the conflict spreading to countries with which the U.S. maintains good relations, such as Qatar.

Following the incident, President Trump reportedly altered his stance in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which contributed to the breakthrough in the peace process. The current agreement is seen as more substantial than previous efforts, with the first steps already completed and further actions, such as the release of hostages and troop withdrawals, pending a vote in Israel.

That meeting is running over 30 minutes late, but all eyes will be watching to see if Trump says anything on that crucial peace agreement between Israel and Hamas. Let's turn now to how all of this is playing out at the White House. We're going to get to CBS News political reporter Zach Hudak. Zach, thanks for joining us. What was the turning point for this deal, and how is this agreement different from other times? Mugu, our sources are telling us that there was a clear turning point in this deal, and that was the September 9th strike that Israel had on Doha that was targeting Hamas leaders but did not kill any of them, although it did kill a few civilians. That was a major turning point because it changed President Trump's outlook on the war and it changed how he was dealing and negotiating with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. President Trump became very concerned by the possibility that this conflict was broadening and going to countries that, frankly, the U.S. has fairly good relations at the moment with Qatar. So it became much more of a liability for the U.S., frankly, as soon as that strike happened. In the weeks following that, we've seen the president really change his tune even after he's had conversations with Netanyahu, who he's somewhat close with and talks with a lot. But if there's one turning point, it is clearly that. I think the major difference here between this and previous potential deals is that we've actually reached a point where the first step is, in essence, complete. We are waiting, as you said, on Israel to vote on the measure and then we will begin these countdowns for the release of hostages and removal of troops. But the biggest difference is that this actually has legs and the previous attempts have not.
