The strikes come after a series of attacks by the Houthi group against Israel and commercial shipping in the Red Sea, which the Houthis say are in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Israeli officials have warned of further retaliation, while Houthi representatives stated that Israeli actions would not deter their operations.

In Yemen, satellite television aired footage of firefighters battling flames in the aftermath. And the Houthi-run health ministry announced several people had been killed and dozens injured. For over 22 months, the rebel group has been launching operations it says are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The Houthis have attacked commercial vessels in the Red Sea, and directed drones and missiles towards Israel. One of which they claimed was a new type of missile, fired towards the Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv on Friday. Israel's Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Sunday the Houthis would pay for every missile they launched, while Houthi officials said Israeli attacks would not deter them.
