The incident has led to public tributes for Kirk, including a memorial at Utah Valley University and pre-game honors by NFL teams. In response to the shooting, the White House has requested additional security funding for government officials. On the eve of the suspect's first court appearance, FBI Director Kash Patel laid out some of the evidence, which he says points to a motive. He had a text message exchange, he the suspect with another individual, in which he claimed that he had an opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and he was going to do it because of his hatred for what Charlie stood for. According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, the alleged shooter was in a romantic relationship with a roommate, who is now cooperating with investigators. Robinson, however, is not. He was a joyful warrior for our country. As a tribute to Kirk, Vice President J.D. Vance took over his late friend's radio show today. We don't believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility. And there is no civility in the celebration of political assassination. Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller went further. It is a vast domestic terror movement. Miller said that, quote, in Charlie's name, the administration would dismantle and destroy left-wing organizations they claim are encouraging, inspiring and funding violence. But he offered no evidence to support that claim. The shooting prompted the White House to request an extra $58 million in security funding to help protect officials in the executive and judicial branch. In St. George, Utah, near where the suspect grew up, a vigil. Jada Funk is a former classmate. I saw his picture and immediately pulled out my yearbook and started recalling all the memories I had with him. It was just really surreal. From the 10 years that I did know him, he was always just a kind, respectful, very sharp and smart guy. On Sunday, several NFL teams paid pre-game tributes to Kirk, while on the campus of Utah Valley University, a memorial continues to grow. Luke Jangula says he and other students are still coming to grips with what happened. I've been trying to stay off social media. I know a lot of people can just bring other people down. It's not easy to tell why, why they would try to hurt other people. Like there's so many people in our world that's struggling and you can never see it. So you just try to do your best every day. We'll learn more about the prosecution's case against Robinson when charging documents are released tomorrow ahead of his first court appearance in the afternoon. Carter Evans, thank you. The president ordered flags lowered to half-staff in honor of Kirk. He did not do that earlier this year after the assassination of the Minnesota House Speaker. Nancy Cordes at the White House asked him about that today. In retrospect, given all of the moving ways that this White House has paid tribute to Charlie Kirk, do you think it would have been fitting to lower the flags to half-staff when Melissa Hortman, the Minnesota House Speaker, was gunned down by an assassin as well? I'm not familiar. The Minnesota House Speaker, a Democrat, who was assassinated this summer. Well, if the governor had asked me to do that, I would have done that. But the governor of Minnesota didn't ask me. I didn't. I wouldn't have thought of that, but I would have, if somebody had asked me. People make requests for the lowering of a flag, and oftentimes you have to say no because it would be a lot of lowering. The flag would never be up. Had the governor of Minnesota asked me to do that, I would have done that gladly.
