According to officials, Villegas Gonzalez resisted arrest, attempted to flee, and struck and dragged an ICE officer with his vehicle, prompting the agent to fire his weapon.

Both Villegas Gonzalez and the ICE agent were transported to a hospital, where Villegas Gonzalez was pronounced dead. The ICE agent sustained severe injuries but is now in stable condition. Officials stated that Villegas Gonzalez had a history of reckless driving. Surveillance footage reportedly shows the driver attempting to escape during the arrest.

According to the Department of Homely and Security, the ICE agents sustained severe injuries, but is now in stable condition. Surveillance video of the vehicle stop shows ICE agents trying to arrest a driver who appears to try to escape.
