A massive storm left around 900 hikers, guides and other staff stranded in difficult conditions on the Chinese side of Mount Everest on Saturday (October 4).

Approximately 900 people, including hikers and support staff, were stranded by a sudden snowstorm on the Chinese side of Mount Everest. Rescue teams responded by delivering food, medicine, heating, and oxygen to those affected, some of whom suffered from hypothermia and lacked shelter. 

All individuals were safely brought down from the mountain, and the region in Tibet has been temporarily closed as a precaution. State media confirmed that the rescue operation was completed without further incident.

Around 900 people stranded by a sudden snowstorm on the Chinese side of Mount Everest have all been rescued, state media said. The storm hit late Saturday night, trapping hikers and support staff at more than 4,900 meters altitude. Some were left without easy access or shelter. Teams brought food, medicine, heating and oxygen to aid climbers suffering from hypothermia. By Tuesday, all hikers, guides and workers had descended to safety. The scenic region in China's Tibet has been temporarily closed.
