Investigators quickly secured the scene and recovered a high-powered bolt-action rifle, along with forensic evidence such as footwear and palm prints. The FBI released images and video of the suspect, which led to thousands of public tips. Ultimately, Robinson's family recognized him in the released images and contacted authorities, leading to his surrender at a sheriff's office approximately 33 hours after the shooting.
