Early voting begins in 18 days. Frontrunner Zoran Mondani has made affordability his signature issue on the trail. He's now putting a finer point on what he will do if elected. He promises that rent-stabilized tenants will save, on average, $1,750 a year, families with kids under five will save more than $22,000 in child care costs annually, and that bus commuters will save about $2,000 a year. But how will he pay for all of that? He has an answer. I continue to be confident that the most straightforward and productive way to raise the revenue for this initiative is by increasing taxes on the top 1% of New Yorkers by 2%. But Governor Kathy Hochul has said that she opposes such a tax increase, and in large part because of her opposition, former Governor Andrew Cuomo insists that Mondani cannot deliver what he's promising. None of his ideas actually make any sense or would make any difference. I am the opposite. I'm not going to BS you. Mr. Trump's dream would be Mr. Mondani. He'd run around the country with a little picture of Mr. Mondani and say, look at the Democrats. They just elected this commie. I have to come in and I have to take over because this kid can't protect New York. Republican Curtis Sliwa insists that he can protect New York. Last night, he secured the endorsement of former Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Curtis Sliwa has been a hero for New York from the time almost he was born. Think of Rudy Giuliani 2.0. I learned from the best. And in another development, Sliwa claims that there have been, quote, credible threats made against both him and his wife, Nancy. So for the first time in his life, he says he has armed security guards 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An NYPD spokesperson tells The Post that at this point, there are no reports to the NYPD of credible threats.
