The Fort Worth Zoo is preparing to announce the name of its newest baby elephant, offering the public a choice between three Texas-themed names: Rosie, Birdie, and Susie. Each name is inspired by Texas flowers or figures, continuing the zoo's tradition of giving locally meaningful names to its elephants.

The baby elephant was born to Blue Bonnet, the first elephant born at the zoo. The community was invited to vote on the names, and visitors are encouraged to visit the zoo to see the new arrival. The official name announcement is expected soon.

Paige Ellenberger live this morning with a look. Hey there. Hey guys, good morning. So we haven't officially saw the new baby elephant, but they have this big sign outside of the Fort Worth Zoo. Oh, baby, baby, the new baby elephant is here. Like you mentioned, Brandon, there are three names for this baby elephant up for consideration. OK, the three are Rosie, Birdie and Susie. All three are Texas themed names, all based on flowers. You see, it's tradition for baby elephants born at the Fort Worth Zoo to have a Texas name. This new baby was born to mom Blue Bonnet, who was the first elephant born here at the zoo back in 1998. So in and on to her, all three choices are flower themed as well. Birdie is short for Lady Bird Johnson, of course, the former first lady who is known for her love of nature and wildflowers. Susie is short for Black Eyed Susan of a Texas native wildflower. And Rosie is short for Yellow Rose from the iconic Texas song. We are expecting the official announcement in just about an hour. I do hear we're going to be able to go inside of the zoo, so maybe we'll get a sneak peek at the new babe. In the meantime, visitors are encouraged to come out to the zoo, get a look at the new baby elephant. Here's a tip for you as well. Wednesday's half price admission, Brandon and Lauren. So I know our hours kind of work a little bit better for that. But if you have a Wednesday afternoon, probably the best time to come and visit back to you. OK, do you have a page?
