Palestinian medical officials reported that an Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip killed dozens, predominantly women and children. Residents claimed the strike targeted displaced families outside a school in the town of Avasan, east of Khan Yunis, resulting in at least 29 deaths. The Israeli military stated it was investigating reports of civilian casualties and mentioned that the strike aimed at a Hamas fighter involved in a recent raid on Israel.

Hamas' media office reported additional Israeli airstrikes in central Gaza, which resulted in 60 deaths and dozens of injuries. Among these, a strike on a home in al-Nusirat killed 17 people, mostly children. Concurrently, advancing Israeli tanks in Gaza City shelled roads and buildings, prompting mass evacuations. The Israeli military issued evacuation orders via social media for several districts in eastern and western Gaza City. 

The Palestinian Red Crescent indicated it transported dozens of injured individuals from a hospital in Gaza City but faced difficulties responding to distress calls due to intense bombings. This renewed Israeli campaign has come at a critical juncture, with senior U.S. officials in the region to push for a truce following recent concessions by Hamas. However, Hamas warned that the ongoing conflict could derail the negotiations.

This was followed by Israeli military orders posted on social media to evacuate several districts in eastern and western Gaza City. The Palestinian Red Crescent transported dozens of injured from a hospital in Gaza City on Sunday and Monday, but on Wednesday said that its crews were unable to answer dozens of distress calls due to the intensity of the bombing there. Israel's renewed campaign has threatened talks at a crucial time, as senior U.S. officials are in the region to push for a ceasefire after Hamas made concessions last week. Hamas quoted its leader as saying that the latest fighting could bring negotiations, quote, back to square one.
