AccuWeather's Ali Reid ended her last live report from South Carolina on Sept. 29 with a stunning rainbow seen from downtown Charleston as Tropical Storm Imelda pushed away from the U.S. coast.

Charleston, South Carolina, experienced a picturesque end to the day as a vibrant rainbow appeared following concerns over the impacts of Imelda. Despite initial worries about flooding in the low-lying city, conditions remained largely calm, and residents expressed relief that the storm did not bring significant disruption.

Officials noted that while the surf remained rough, it was less severe than during previous storms, though they advised against swimming due to the lack of lifeguards. Only minor coastal flooding is expected, and the community welcomed the positive outcome and scenic views after the passing weather system.

For a closer look now, though, at Imelda's impacts, we're joined by Allie Reed, live from Charleston, South Carolina. Allie, you just drove to Charleston. Tell us about that drive. The drive was perfectly fine. I mean, that's the overall general consensus here is that things are good, people are happy, and they're just thrilled to be in Charleston, South Carolina. How could you not be happy in a place like this? And I figured we would end it in downtown Charleston. And I want to show you something. I think this sums up today. Andy, follow me for just one second here. Take a look at that. Is that not the most beautiful rainbow you have ever seen? And I think that perfectly sums up a day like today when you have a gorgeous, stunning rainbow over Charleston, South Carolina, when you have an overcast day, a perfect day, when you're talking about Imelda. Wow. That just goes to show you it moves out into the ocean and it says bye bye. OK, it's not going to hit here in this area, right? And I think that has been the conversation of the day. But what a gorgeous way to end this, too. Not only do you have a rainbow, but then you have the sunset directly behind me here, too. And the reason why I chose this location. Yes, the sunset is beautiful. Yes, the rainbow was an added bonus. But I chose here because Charleston is a low lying area. This area tends to flood. I want to take to some video. This gives you an idea of what it looked like earlier here in Charleston as well. Gives you kind of a side by side perspective of what we saw earlier today and leading into this evening as well. Very similar atmosphere to what we saw even just a few hours ago here in this area. But again, with the low lying region and even with the potential chance of just minimal rain, they were concerned that there could be some flooding in and around this street that we are in right now. So that was a concern. The other thing I want to show you is where we were earlier. This was live over in Folly Beach. This was about 20, 30 minutes ago when we were over in that location, about a 20 minute drive from where we are right now in downtown Charleston. Gives you kind of a drone shot, that perspective of what it looked like in Folly Beach as well. There you're talking about rough surf, the rip currents not nearly as strong or rough as what we saw even a few weeks ago when we were talking about Hurricane Erin moving up the East Coast, but certainly still strong and rough enough where local officials here say do not get in that water. There are no lifeguards here on duty over the next couple of days. And so you are swimming at your own risk if you do choose to go into the water. Throughout the day, we saw some surfers. We also saw potentially some people swimming in the water, too. But again, of course, those officials saying heed what they're recommending. Do not get into the water. Avoid it if at all possible. But what a perfect way to end our time here in Charleston, South Carolina. The rainbow, you can't beat it. It's still looking out over. And if we can, maybe we send that back to studio Jeff and Anna with this rainbow overlooking Charleston, South Carolina. Guys, you can't beat it. And that has been, again, the consensus here. People very happy that Imelda did not bring those impacts that we were initially potentially going to see here, guys. I always love to see a rainbow. You know, sometimes the camera doesn't do a rainbow justice, but that one really, really does pop. So props to our lovely videographer out there with Ali Reed. He's doing the thing. Nobody does it better. It's good stuff. And always, again, nice to see a nice shot like that over historic downtown Charleston. They may have a little bit of very minor coastal flooding tomorrow afternoon and maybe even to some extent Wednesday afternoon with high tide. But again, we've seen far, far worse than that in Charleston.
