A 53-year-old man from the Gold Coast has been arrested and charged for allegedly selling euthanasia medication intended for whales to vulnerable Australians. Authorities allege he obtained the drug through a charity set up for whale euthanasia and then sold it for profit, without regard for the health or vulnerabilities of his clients.

The investigation began after the death of a 43-year-old man, whose medical condition was not fatal, and traces of the drug were found by a coroner. Police believe there may be more than 20 victims in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, dating back to 2021. Additional drugs were found at the home of the accused's mother, and police are urging anyone with concerns to come forward.

But police allege he illegally facilitated that end, preying on more than 20 vulnerable Australians. He hasn't acted compassionately at all. This is a business transaction for him. He's run a business and this is why he's doing it. So it's just for pure money. The 53-year-old Gold Coast man allegedly sold whale euthanasia medication for a profit police say he obtained it through a charity. We're alleged that the charity's been set up to euthanise whales and through that process he's able to lawfully buy the drug. The alleged conduct involves deliberately targeting vulnerable people and exploiting them in their most desperate moments. The alleged plot was uncovered after a 43-year-old man and his mother contacted end-of-life services this year. He died in April but police say his medical condition wasn't fatal. A coroner found traces of the whale euthanasia drug. Taylor was arrested on Friday along with his father and another woman, both in their 80s. The 53-year-old's also been charged with selling the drug to another man. That sale took place without any questioning about that person's health or any vulnerabilities that they may have. Detectives suspect there are many more victims. But we believe it will be around or greater than 20. But finding who they are will be difficult. Autopsies aren't usually performed on people who choose to end their own lives, which rules out detecting the whale euthanasia drug. But police believe that Taylor has victims in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, dating back to 2021. Police say they found more drugs at Taylor's mother's home in Victoria.
