The National Hurricane Center continues to closely monitor an area in the Atlantic that could become Tropical Storm Gabrielle as early as this weekend.

Meteorologists are closely tracking a storm system in the Atlantic that currently has an 80% chance of developing into a named storm within the next seven days. The system is expected to move westward with the next available name on the list being Gabrielle. 

Forecast models suggest the storm could take a more southerly route, potentially affecting regions such as the Dominican Republic or the Leeward Islands, depending on its path. The exact track and whether the system will pass over land or remain over open water will influence its eventual strength and impact.

We take a look at the storm in the Atlantic. This is gonna be the one that now, you know, over the next seven days has an 80% chance to form and become our next name system. And obviously, just taking a look at our chance of depression, you really see it picking up and having a good chance of becoming something before it even gets to the Lesser Antilles. Next name up on the list is Gabrielle. And of course, this one does look like to have that name eventually, as this wave works its way westward with those easterly trade winds. And the million dollar question is the track it's going to take, and so this is another reason why we gotta keep a very good look on the overall flow with this. So let's go ahead and take a look at the European outlook. It's more of a southerly route, and if that were to take place, we're talking about maybe some impacts, obviously, to the DR or, you know, the Leeward Islands. But at what point does it jaunt a little bit to the north? Does it go over some of these mountainous islands, or does it stay over open water? And of course, those questions will determine its overall strength once it gets closer to home.
