New Zealand police have released new footage of what they believe is fugitive Tom Phillips and one of his children breaking into the same store he allegedly attempted to rob in 2023.

Police in the Waikato District of New Zealand are investigating a burglary believed to involve Tom Phillips and one of his children, both of whom have been missing for nearly four years. Phillips disappeared with his three children in December 2021 after losing custody, and has since been occasionally spotted, sometimes with the children, during alleged robberies.

The most recent sighting before the burglary was nearly a year ago, when the family was seen walking through farmland. Phillips' sister has spoken publicly for the first time, expressing her desire to reunite with her brother and the children. Police have stated their priority is the safe return of the children and that the investigation will continue as long as necessary.

As far as break-ins go, it doesn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary. However, this one's different. The two culprits are believed to be that of fugitive father Tom Phillips and one of his children, who have been missing for nearly four years. We've got to look at that and go, well, what does this actually mean? The fact he's come all the way out to Pew Pew to commit a burglary for some grocery items. Phillips disappeared with his three kids, Jada, Maverick and Ember, aged between nine and 12, in December 2021, after he'd lost custody of the trio. Since then, he's been sporadically spotted on CCTV, partaking in robberies, sometimes accompanied by the children. Our concern is that Tom will pose a risk to anyone that tries to stop the way he's living his lifestyle with his children. The most recent sighting before this week was in October last year, when a pig hunter filmed the family walking through farmland. It was the best thing ever. It was like Christmas come early. And I really, really, really thought they would be coming home this time. 12 months later, and they still aren't home, leading to Phillips' sister speaking publicly for the first time. I really want to see you and the kids and be part of your lives again. Police admit they want this to come to an end, but won't rush it. This will take as long as it takes.
