President Emmanuel Macron is under increasing scrutiny, with calls from both opposition figures and former allies for either the dissolution of the National Assembly or his own resignation. Despite declining popularity at home, Macron has maintained a prominent role internationally and insists he will serve out his term, which is set to conclude in 2027. The president's office has stated that a new prime minister will be appointed soon.

A clear consequence of a parliament deadlocked by division. The farce has gone on long enough said Marine Le Pen the leader of the far-right National Rally who called for the National Assembly to be dissolved. But the sharp words aren't just coming from Macron's opponents but some of his allies too. Macron's first Prime Minister said the president should resign and call an early election but only after parliament manages to pass a budget. The country is gripped by rising debt with no consensus on how to manage it. It's a disaster said this woman. We're not in a very good situation. Business people are all in uncertainty. They see nothing that gives them clarity on what's to come said this man. At home Macron's popularity has sunk but abroad he's been a key figure. He did a lot to put back France on the international stage. I think he did a lot to steer European politics. I'm not sure the French will remember him for domestic politics. The president's office says he will appoint a new Prime Minister in the next 48 hours.
