The vaccine, which has been used in doctor's offices for over two decades, can be ordered online in 34 states for those with insurance, with plans to expand availability.

Health experts hope that this at-home option will increase flu vaccination rates, which remain below half among adults. The most common side effects of FluMist include runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, and fever, while rare but serious allergic reactions are also possible. The at-home vaccine is not recommended for individuals aged 50 and older, who are advised to continue receiving traditional flu shots from healthcare providers.
