FBI prepares resources ahead of students returning to UVU campus after Charlie Kirk shooting

The FBI is actively involved in supporting the community, providing resources such as mental health counselors, victim specialists, and specially trained facility dogs to assist those affected by the incident.

Officials emphasize that anyone present during the event may be experiencing trauma and encourage them to seek assistance. Personal belongings left at the scene are being returned, and information about collection times is available online. The campus community continues to mourn the loss while focusing on recovery and support.

I'm Carolina Hassett at Utah Valley University just days after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on campus. Students and employees are getting ready to return this week and officials want to make sure they feel supported saying they may not even realize that they're victims. After the chaos that occurred on Utah Valley University's campus Wednesday, we as a campus community are shocked and saddened by the tragic passing of Charlie Kirk. The campus is now quiet with the exception of residents continuing to pay their respects. This has been a traumatic experience. The FBI is continuing the process of returning personal items that were on scene to students. We have mental health counselors available if they have these types of episodes where their possessions caused them to remember the events. Special Agent Robert Bull says a plethora of resources will be awaiting the students when they return. Agents, analysts, victim specialists, child adolescence forensic interviewers and facility dogs, these are Wally and Taz, they're specially trained to provide support in crisis during mass violence incidents. As students start their return to a campus that now holds so much trauma, officials want them to remember one thing. Everyone who was there is a victim and if you were there I encourage you to come seek assistance with us so we can help you in any way that you may need. Now students may pick up any items they may have left at the scene at the Young Living Alumni Center starting tomorrow. Those hours will be posted over on our website.
