The European leaders emphasized respect for Moldova's sovereignty and pledged to support its EU aspirations, noting that the country's accession plans depend on the outcome of the upcoming elections.

The message from them to Moldova's pro-European President is a simple one. We are here to support Moldova's accession to the EU. It is one month before parliamentary elections in Moldova and the threat of Russian interference is real. The Kremlin's propaganda explains to us that the Europeans want to prolong the war and that the European Union oppresses the peoples. These are lies. Contrary to Russia, the European Union does not threaten anyone and respects the sovereignty of everyone. It is a union where everyone decides to enter freely, sovereignly and where the sovereignty of everyone is respected. Moldova's President, Maja Sandu, has repeatedly warned of an impending Russian hybrid operation involving vote-buying, cyber-attacks and disinformation in the run-up to the election campaign. Located between Romania and Ukraine, Moldova is directly affected by the geopolitical turmoil caused by Moscow's war of aggression against Kiev. Chisinau is therefore seeking closer ties with the EU. The three leaders of the European Union spoke with one voice here in Chisinau. They recalled Moldova's independence from the Soviet Union 34 years ago and also they pledged to help Moldova to join the European Union. The plan is to join in 2030, but it depends who will win in this parliamentary election on 28th September.
