The Long Island Association hosted its annual State of the Region event at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, attended by Governor Kathy Hochul and Nassau and Suffolk County executives. The meeting centered on policy matters, particularly the economic climate and affordability issues affecting Long Island and the broader state.

Governor Hochul and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, both considered front runners in the upcoming gubernatorial race, exchanged criticisms during the event. Governor Hochul is expected to elaborate further on these issues in her upcoming State of the State address.

here on Long Island. The Long Island Association held its annual State of the Region elected officials including Governor Kathy Hochul and the Nassau and Suffolk County executives. They were all there discussing the issues that matter to us most. Our Rich Barabi is at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury with more. Well the Long Island Association State of the Region event just wrapped up here as you can see people are starting to leave the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury but we did hear from Governor Kathy Hochul as well as Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman. The two front runners of course in the race for governor, Governor Hochul seeking reelection here and she took some shots at Bruce Blakeman, her presumptive opponent in the fall. Blakeman also made some thinly veiled criticisms of the governor. Take a listen. 2026 is here. Can you give us 20 seconds each? What's that to look forward to? What's the prediction for something positive this this crowd can look forward to in 2026? That's a very loaded question. I guess a new governor? I have to tell you that we have been very successful in Nassau County. I have such respect for board members and supervisors and the mayor's all the way on up to most county executives so so no don't read that wrong come on come on people work with me here. Hi Ed Romaine how you doing out there good to see you. Now the focus here was not on politics it was on policy and specifically the economic climate here on Long Island and across the state as well as the affordability issue. Governor Hochul is expected to talk much more about that in her State of the State address that's coming up next week. In Woodbury, Rich Parabi, News 12.
