President Donald Trump has issued a warning to Iran, stating that the United States will respond 'very hard' if Iranian authorities continue to use violence against protesters. This comes as Iran faces widespread protests across all 31 provinces, initially sparked by economic grievances but now encompassing broader discontent with the country's leadership.

Iranian security forces have reportedly responded with force, including live fire, resulting in dozens of deaths and many more injuries and arrests. The Iranian government, led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, has vowed to intensify its crackdown, labeling protesters as terrorists, while demonstrators continue to demand change and openly challenge the ruling establishment.

What's the very latest from where you are? Reid, good to be with you. Well, what we're seeing across Iran at this very moment is not a series of isolated protests. This is a nationwide movement that has now swept through all 31 provinces. It began with discontent over the collapsing economy, things like rising prices, a plunging currency, chronic power and water outages. But it has rapidly evolved into widespread anger at the entire system. Now, Iranian security forces have been deployed in force and rights groups have now reported that dozens have been killed and many more injured and arrested as these clashes escalate. We're also hearing reports of protesters confronting riot police on the ground who are firing back not only with tear gas, but also with live fire. So as you can see, the leadership in Tehran is responding with an incredibly harsh crackdown. And as we've been saying, the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei has vowed to crush what he's been calling anti-revolutionary elements, while hardline commanders inside the country are also pushing for zero tolerance. Still, the protest continues. We have students, we have workers, we have merchants and ordinary families out on the streets demanding not just relief from economic pain, but many are openly chanting against the leadership and the clerical establishment itself. So the latest in Iran is this, a large, sustained and increasingly defiant movement that is confronting a leadership determined to hold on, even as that leadership's legitimacy is clearly under strain in ways we have not seen in years.
