Gusty winds will develop along the East Coast this weekend, which will make it a rough weekend for beachgoers. Watch out for rough surf, a high risk for rip currents and coastal flooding during high tides.

Weather conditions along the US east coast are being affected by a pressure gradient, resulting in gusty winds and rough surf. The high risk of rip currents extends from South Florida through the Palm Beaches, up to the Outer Banks and Virginia Beach. 

Despite sunny weather and crowded beaches, officials are warning that these conditions are not ideal for swimming or boating. Boaters may encounter light to moderate chop offshore, and beachgoers are urged to exercise caution due to the elevated risk of rip currents.

And with this high in the front, you've got a pressure gradient in the middle. And guess who gets to deal with that? Really all of Florida. So the sun may be out. You may say, oh, we're going into the water, but there's a very high rip current risk all the way from South Florida, and especially the Palm beaches on North toward Ferdinand and Dena Beach, up toward the Outer Banks, Virginia Beach. I mean, these beaches are still packed this time of the year. If you're like me, you don't want to say goodbye to summer. I get it. Trust me. And you're going to take every opportunity to enjoy these beaches, especially as we get in toward the weekend. So expect another breezy day. This is not the best time for boating. Whether you be fishing offshore, there's definitely a light chop, and even in some cases, a moderate chop.
