The move comes after Judge Boasberg ruled against the Trump administration's immigration policies and made comments at a judicial conference suggesting the administration might ignore federal court orders, potentially leading to a constitutional crisis.

The administration has filed a complaint with the chief judge, alleging that Judge Boasberg undermined the integrity of the judiciary and threatened public confidence. The dispute centers on a high-profile case where Boasberg ordered the return of deported immigrants, and accused the administration of being in contempt of court for not complying with his order.

Bondi has targeted a judge who ruled against the administration's immigration policies. That judge's name is James Boasberg. And for more on this question, we are joined by Jessica Levinson, who now is here. And we're glad to have you, Jessica. I know there's a back story to this, but what is the reason the administration is singling out Boasberg? What's the reason they state? So the reason they state is that they say Judge Boasberg is actually undermining the integrity of the judiciary and threatening the public's confidence in the judiciary. And John, what they specifically cite to are comments that Judge Boasberg made in a judicial conference. And the comments specifically are the idea that the Trump administration might ignore federal court orders and that that could lead to a constitutional crisis. The administration then points to the idea that Judge Boasberg heard that case, that immigration case, and according to the administration, did not deal with them fairly. So that's the back story, which you've dipped your toe in there. Give us a little bit more of the back story here that might help put in context what the Department of Justice is doing. So the Department of Justice received results from Judge Boasberg that they did not like. They were trying to deport certain people that famously, this is the case dealing with the judge who said, turn those planes around with immigrants from Venezuela. This is famously the case where the judge said that he thought it was likely that the Trump administration was in contempt of court by not turning those planes around. And therefore, I think it is not a coincidence that we now see this pretty drastic escalation, this step where you see the Trump administration filing a complaint with the chief judge against Judge Boasberg.
