As Britain gears up for the coming incarnation of King Charles III, mood music appears mixed in some communities. In Brixton, which has a large Afro-Caribbean population, the street parade will be led by a local chamber orchestra. One member acknowledges there's a certain ambivalence to overcome. There will be a lot of different communities and I think that with the vast range of styles that we delve into in terms of music, that whilst for some people there may be a slight disconnection in terms of the actual event and maybe the history behind it, that I think with music there can be that sort of connection. London's South Hall is known as Little India. Here, many of the parties will have a culinary theme, with one restauranteur in particular happy to celebrate the carnation of a former customer. That is the greatness of your king, who actually listens to you, who wants to know from where you've come, are you happy, are you doing good work. So I think he is the people's king. Events are planned across the country, but rising poverty levels and a biting cost of living crisis are undermining the party atmosphere. Many hope that at least the British weather will be calm.
