Many residents, displaced from their homes, are now dependent on scarce and often unclean water from collection centers. Water shortages in Gaza have worsened sharply in recent weeks, with fuel shortages forcing desalination and sanitation facilities to close. This makes people dependent on collection centers where they can refill their plastic containers, and the water is often scarce and unclean. Manasra and his wife, Umm Khaled, are, like most of Gaza's two million residents, displaced from their homes. They cannot wash clothes, bedding or their children. My daughter was very sick from the heat rash and the scabies. I went to several doctors for her, and they prescribed many medications. Two of my children yesterday, one had diarrhea and vomiting, and the other had fever and infections from the dirty water. The war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants stormed into Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages into Gaza, according to Israeli tallies. At least 20 of the remaining 50 hostages there are believed to still be alive. Gaza's health ministry said on Sunday that more than 58,000 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war.

The U.S. will manufacture more weapons to help Ukraine in its fight against Russia's invasion. President Trump said European nations will be footing the bill.
