Drawing on his Korean heritage and American identity, Kim aims to honor both cultures through the show, which he calls a 'love letter' to his roots.

One of the people who is assigned to go after him turns out to be his daughter. For you. Dad? Dad? It's a story of how that thread unspools and the ramifications of past decisions he's made. Okay, so what does live happily ever after? You used to love those. You should pay for those. I wanted to kind of showcase South Korea as a character in our show. We shot in over 20 cities here and we were trying to be as respectful as we could of the location and the way we shoot and portray Korea because it's a place that I love. Why? Because Cadiz has something of mine I want back. I was born in South Korea and I still have a lot of relatives here. In a lot of my previous work, I haven't been able to showcase the sides of me that this show allows me to do. I love being American. I love being Korean. And this is a love letter to both cultures. I'm not that easy to kill. I'm not that easy to kill.
