The outgoing Prime Minister, Petro Fiala, and his coalition faced challenges such as rising energy prices, high inflation, and slow economic growth. Babiš's party is aligned with the far-right Patriots for Europe bloc in the European Parliament and plans to negotiate with other right-wing parties to form a government, indicating a potential shift to the right in Czech politics.

Many Czechs disagree, especially over Ukraine, and didn't vote for Babiš. I think we should be happy that we are happy that we are a member of the EU, we are a member of NATO, and I hope it will continue in this direction and the support for Ukraine is really important. I think the Czechs should really strongly support Ukraine and be against Russia. I hope there will be no populism in our party and in our nation, we'll see. On the losing side is the outgoing Prime Minister Petro Fiala. His conservative coalition was dogged by soaring energy prices following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, high overall inflation and sluggish economic growth. In the European Parliament, Babiš's party is part of the far-right Patriots for Europe bloc, which he co-founded with the authoritarian Hungarian leader Viktor Orbán. Babiš has vowed to take a Czech-first approach, which undoubtedly means a turn to the right. He's short of a majority and plans to talk to the anti-migrant Freedom and Direct Democracy party and a right-wing group called the Motorists, which opposes the EU's green policies.

“I believe they are ready for a lasting peace.” the U.S president wrote on social media after Hamas announced it was willing to release the hostages and hand over power to other Palestinians.
