Royal mania on the streets of London in the days leading up to the coronation of Charles the third. Shops full of souvenirs, streets decorated and rehearsals taking place for a ceremony that will break with tradition. For the first time, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Jewish religious leaders will be present at the ceremony of coronation of the British sovereign who is also the head of the Anglican church. Our history hasn't always been so simple and we haven't always lived freely, we haven't been able to practice our religion but knowing that King Charles acts this way and speaks this way is tremendously comforting. A sentiment shared by some of the religious communities that make up the United Kingdom. It is the same sense of belonging in these places and I think there is no one better who could express this than the monarch. And so as the final rehearsals for the first coronation for 70 years take place, Charles the third hopes the ceremony will reflect ancient traditions while also encompassing a multi-faith, multi-cultural modern British society.
