Election campaigns officially kicked off in the Central African Republic. The incumbent Faustine Akonj Twadera campaigning in the capital Bangui, officially launching his electoral campaigns. He had earlier run campaign in another region known as Sibut, where he kicked off the race. His team is already counting on a strong tunnel to win the presidential vote on December 28. I saw the people mobilizing for this election, for the victory of the head of state, Professor Faustine Akonj Twadera, candidate number one, the champion of the United Hearts movement in the first round. Twadera, who is seeking a second term, already sees himself victorious for his supporters. The promise of peace and the return of stability are enough to justify renewed confidence in him over the other candidates. You see, there is joy, enthusiasm and a lot of emotion because we see that the population has understood that peace is needed and the Central African people want peace with President Faustine Akonj Twadera. That is why we are all here, truly joyful to begin this presidential, legislative and regional municipality campaigns. Even before the campaign officially began, the opposition figure and his aide, George Dologele, unveiled a platform built around 25 social pillars, including the construction of a strong state and the economic recovery of the country. Without a strong state, there is neither development nor stability nor a future. The third pillar is economic recovery and the creation of opportunities for all. We want a country where initiative is encouraged and where work pays. As the opposition candidate announced the rallying of a former minister allied with Francis Akonj Twadera, Sange Bokassa, the opposition leader also launched a sharp attack on the ruling camp, accusing it of challenging his nationality. The architecture of Central African democracy has collapsed. The nationality is being handed out left and right. They even talk about distributing it through some kind of tokenization. I don't know what. And meanwhile, the nationality of fellow citizens is being challenged. The campaign is now open for two weeks in a very tense context, according to the UN. The candidates, including President Faustine Akonj Twadera, have called for a peaceful campaign.
