I'm Kevin Lewis in Tampa with more bad news on the injury front for the Bucs. Head coach Todd Bowles said running back Bucky Irving will not play Sunday when Tampa Bay travels to Seattle and the Bucs are already shorthanded without receiver Mike Evans but they won't hesitate to lean on a rookie who continues to live up to the hype. Another week, another example of why the Bucs were so excited when receiver Emeka Ibuka fell to them at 19 in the first round of the draft. This week the rookie phenom earned NFC Offensive Rookie of the Month honors but the Bucs aren't surprised. Offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard says they saw this potential on day one of rookie minicamp. It happens every game and it's fantastic to see another huge play that really brought some juice to the sideline when we were down and people rallied behind that and just conversations he was just having out there with Mike on how to run routes these guys just soaking all the knowledge from Chris and Mike and he's in a great spot right now. While Ibuka's had a blazing start to his NFL career he says he still has plenty to learn. You know taking the steps to be able to learn from my mistakes and grow each and every week it's a very long season got to be able to you know not stay the same week in and week out you got to continue to grow. The scouting report on Ibuka is that he's Chris Godwin 2.0 and that is just fine with the rookie. His energy is infectious he's a competitor to the to the max and having someone like that back in your room and on the field with you is just is so huge for the offense as a whole. The Bucs offense has had a season's worth of adversity in the first month but quarterback Baker Mayfield says the Bucs thrive on being tested. From an offensive perspective not having a bunch of the guys the first few weeks we were getting tested early handled it well and it comes to just finding ways to get wins but yeah got to start faster got to be the the aggressor not not wait to get whether it gets chippy or get hit in the mouth once we got to come out swinging.
