The victims have been identified as Ella Cook, vice president of the school's Republican Club, and Mohammad Aziz Mrakov, a student from Uzbekistan. The shooting has led Brown University to cancel all remaining classes and exams for the semester and has reignited discussions about gun control and campus safety.

I was going through the main entrance, and then one of my friends was gasping, and he was like, oh, there's been shots near Bears and Holly. Investigators continue to search the campus and surrounding neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. A man was taken into custody, only to be released hours later. Police said there wasn't enough evidence to charge him. This is what these investigations look like. I've been around long enough to know that sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and that's exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so. One of the victims who was fatally shot was named Ella Cook, and served as vice president of the school's Republican Club. The other victim, named Mohammad Aziz Mrakov, came from Uzbekistan. The school community remains in shock and on edge. Gun violence is a huge issue, and it's truly so tragic that we're seeing these events happen over and over again.
