Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident, including whether self-harm was involved. The two men are reported to be non-verbal and cared for by their parents. The event has unsettled the normally quiet neighbourhood, with residents expressing shock and concern.

In the Blue Mountains, a violent turn at a family home. Two brothers believed to be in their 40s rushed to hospital, their mother in a fight for her life. There were a lot of vehicles going past, police vehicles, ambulances, must have been at least 10 I reckon up and down. Emergency crews were called to Loora at around 7.30 this morning. It's understood the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was found unresponsive by her partner who ran to her neighbours for help. Further inside the home, police discovered her sons with multiple stab wounds. The pair were taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition. I talked to my mum and she said there were sirens on warning. It's understood the two men were non-verbal and were cared for by their parents. They had two kids that were challenged pretty much and had a hard life. Police are still trying to work out exactly what happened and are investigating whether self-harm was involved. A couple of vehicles were coming there so it must have been pretty serious. Residents say the family were quiet and mostly kept to themselves. This morning's events rattling the normally peaceful neighbourhood. It's usually a very quiet area, like there's never been any crime around here at all. Everyone moves here to be away from Sydney. It's such a nice place. Locals left wondering how things went so wrong as a police probe searches for answers. Amanda Taylor, 10 News.
