We’ve all been there– you’re playing Borderlands, and you find an incredible gun… but not for your character. Thankfully, you can actually swap guns and other equipment between all your different vault hunters.

Players in Borderlands 4 can transfer weapons and equipment between their different Vault Hunters using the in-game bank system. Items can be deposited remotely by marking them in the inventory, but withdrawals require visiting a physical bank location, which can be found in faction towns or marked by a piggy bank icon on the map.

All banks share the same loot pool across characters, but items have minimum level restrictions and bank storage can fill up quickly. Bank slots can be expanded using SDU tokens, and characters must have enough available slots to deposit new items. This system allows players to efficiently manage and share gear across their various characters.

Thankfully, you can actually swap guns and other equipment between all your different Vault Hunters. Here's how you do it. First, a caveat. All weapons and items have a minimum level restriction, meaning you can't just drop your level 16 throwing knife down to your level 5 character and immediately expect to use it. With that out of the way, here's how equipment swapping works. First, you'll need a bank. These can be found at faction towns such as the Launch Pad and Karkadia, anywhere that has this piggy bank icon on the map, but you can also deposit items in your bank remotely by marking them in your inventory as bank and then holding the button or key shown at the bottom of the screen. This only works for deposits, however. If you want to withdraw, you'll have to physically approach a bank. All banks have shared loot, so no matter whether you deposit your stuff from the pause menu or drop it in there manually by walking up to it in the world, all your gear will be consistent across all your banks and characters. This also means you'll be filling up the same slots, and you can run out of room quickly. But thankfully, you can expand your bank slots using SDU tokens from the SDU menu, just like you can with your backpack. If your current character is out of slots because they haven't upgraded to the same amount as a different character, they can withdraw items, but they can't deposit until they're back under their particular threshold. Since all this loot applies across your characters, all you have to do and on your alternate character is find a bank anywhere in the world, and your previously deposited gear will be in there.
