Community members from various backgrounds have gathered in Bondi to offer support and assistance to those affected. The incident has deeply impacted both the Jewish and broader community, with many still coming to terms with the tragedy.

Look, there's still a lot of people coming to terms with this situation. There are people being reunited who were separated. Rather than from myself, I'm going to introduce Sam here. Sam was here at the time. Sam, you're in that car park while things are happening. Can you tell us a bit about that? Yes. When I was there, I've seen a lot of people on the ground. Like I've seen some dead bodies a lot. I've seen some kids injured in the leg. I've seen like a brain on the ground as well. It's like I put a brain in the ground like that and I feel very sad for the Jewish community because I think it's a Jewish party. And like that's not good for the Jewish community. They're going to be like that's very traumatizing after the 7th of October. And I don't know if it's Muslims who did that, but that's not what's supposed to happen. As a Muslim, I feel very bad for what happened. I don't know what to say more, but that's very traumatizing to see dead bodies like that. I've seen like a grandma. I think that's the one who lost her brain. I've never seen... It's like a war zone, like a war zone. It's like the Yemen or the Iraq scene, like many, many bodies. Some people, they become white as well. And did it feel targeted to you? We know now that there was a Jewish group gathered starting Hanukkah. Did it feel like that was the group that was the target of this attack to you from what you saw? I think they targeted like everyone who was there, but it was like mainly Jewish. So, of course, many Jewish will die at the moment. So, no, I didn't feel... Yeah, I don't know. And you showed me those pictures, people ducking between cars trying to get any cover you could. How much gunfire was there? How terrifying was it for everyone? Did anyone know what was happening? No, because at first I didn't know it was like gunfire. And then I realised when I seen some people running away, I've seen like many people crying, people... I've seen a woman that's very traumatising. She was crying because she's seen her mum die in front of her. I tried to help her as I could, but I just gave her a bottle of water, but I couldn't do much. And, yeah, I feel very sad. And also I feel very sad because I'm Arab. Some people, they think that I was a terrorist as well, so they started to look at my pocket. I wouldn't... I don't know. And how many people ran into that situation? How many people were trying to help, trying to get to people? I think, like, at least 100 people, they just ran, ran, ran, ran. People, they were crying. No, it was not... Like, I've never seen that in my life. I come from France and I didn't... I've never think in my life that I could, like, see a war zone like that. Even in Australia, because I think Australia is very safe. Even in Bondi, it's the famous place in Australia, in Sydney. Like, to see that 50 metres away from the police station, that's kind of traumatising. And, yeah, I don't know if I could sleep and I feel very sad for people who lost their family members, yeah. Thank you very much for your time. You're welcome. That's a lot to go through. Thank you for talking to us. Sam's just one of the many, many people down here who are still reliving this situation. He showed me some videos on his phone. His friends were ducking for cover between the cars in that car park just on the other side. We've seen those clips of the high ground on the bridges that the shooters took. We've seen that they were organised. We've seen that the secondary person seemed to be carrying ammunition. So, this attack, there was not much people caught in the crossfire could do. But what we are seeing tonight is a lot of people come down here offering support. There are people of all faiths. There are people from the community. And they are coming down to see what they can do. Who needs anything? Who needs any support? We know that this is affecting deeply the community. There are a number of members of the Jewish community who have been here tonight. They're still coming to terms with this situation. It's from both the Arab world and the Jewish side of things. So, it has rocked everybody. And that feeling is still very, very real down here on the streets of Bondi.
