The plan outlines a three-stage process: a ceasefire, disarmament of Hamas, release of hostages and prisoners, and the introduction of humanitarian aid as Israeli troops withdraw.

The proposal also features an Arab-led international peacekeeping force and a recovery phase overseen by a Board of Peace chaired by Donald Trump and Tony Blair. While the plan has generated hope in the region, its implementation is contingent on approval from Israel's cabinet, where opposition from hardline members remains a potential obstacle.

The plan involves three stages, a ceasefire, Hamas disarms, hostages and Israeli-held prisoners are released and aid flows in as Israeli troops pull back. The UN and Red Crescent run the initial recovery phase, overseen by a Board of Peace chaired by Donald Trump and including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. And Gaza is rebuilt into a miracle city and Palestine set on a pathway to statehood at peace with its neighbour. In these wastelands, the word is spreading. There's a lot of hope. I mean, it's what keeps people going right now and it really does because the level of intensity of bombardment has been overwhelming here in the last few weeks. One potential hitch, Israel's cabinet is yet to sign off. There are some very hardline right-wing members there who will not be happy. But this is as close as we've come. Hugh Rimmington.
