Aurora animal control officers are investigating a string of incidents involving rabbits being injured by blow darts near the Southland Shopping Center. Five reports of injured rabbits have been filed, with one rabbit dying as a result of its injuries. Authorities have released images of the affected animals and are seeking public assistance to identify the person responsible.

The attacks occurred over a period of several weeks, and animal cruelty charges may be filed if a suspect is found. The agency has received some tips from the public and encourages anyone with additional information to contact Aurora's animal control dispatch.

Who is shooting rabbits in Aurora? It's a question the city's animal services is trying to answer. The agency released these disturbing images of bunnies with blow darts in them. Animal control officers have taken five reports so far of rabbits injured from these attacks. One rabbit even died. The city says the incidents happened between July 15th and August 19th near the Southland Shopping Center. I spoke with the lead officer on this investigation. He tells me animal cruelty charges could be filed if they find a suspect. Unfortunately, these these darts will hit vital organs, cause infection, cause internal bleeding, and unfortunately it's just a very painful way for the animal to die.
