The Prime Minister has spent the day talking up his government's 2035 climate targets but continues to face scrutiny over whether lowering the emissions will also lower the power bills.

The Australian government has announced its 2035 carbon emissions reduction target, with modelling suggesting household prices could fall by 20 percent under the plan. The government also aims to increase electric vehicle sales to 50 percent of all new car sales by 2035, which would mean 6 million new EVs over the next decade. 

Opposition leaders clarified their stance on setting targets, stating they do not support setting such goals while in opposition. The Prime Minister is scheduled to present the climate plan at the United Nations General Assembly, where he will also express support for Palestinian statehood and seek a meeting with the US President.
