As the storms that were Humberto and Imelda make their way across the Atlantic toward Europe, let's take a look at what could come next.

Meteorologists report that the 2025 hurricane season has so far seen limited impact on the U.S., with only one low-impact Gulf storm and Chantal making landfall. Recent hurricanes, including Umberto and Imelda, have lost their tropical characteristics and are no longer threats to the U.S. mainland.

Attention is now focused on areas of low pressure near the Bahamas and a series of tropical waves off the west coast of Africa. While wind shear is currently providing protection for the U.S. east coast, forecasters are monitoring these systems for potential development. If the tropical waves remain south, they could enter the Caribbean and pose a risk to the Gulf Coast in the coming weeks.

After Imelda, when might another hurricane get close to the U.S.?

Eso former hurricane Umberto continues to move toward the British Isles. We're calling it a tropical rain and wind storm. Technically, there's nothing tropical about it anymore. It's a cold course storm. And then Imelda also lost its tropical characteristics. No longer a hurricane, more like a nor'easter or a cold, angry north Atlantic low that's gonna be moving across the north Atlantic. By the way, Umberto is now being called Storm Amy by the U. K. Met office. It's like the Brits parallel to our National Weather Service. Look at that, though. Uh, the new the eighth home this week to fall into the water. What a mess that was. That was today because of all this traffic in the Atlantic. Very rough surf continues for the east coast. We're watching this area of low pressure off the side of Florida. Tropical wave west of Africa that will be moving offshore soon. So these are the areas of future concern. There is disorganized low pressure nearer than just near northeast of the Bahamas. That's the system that Anna's gonna be talking about. But off the west coast of Africa, tropical wave train continues. And if these tropical waves stay far enough south, they will stay in an area of low wind shear. The minute they drift north of 15 north latitude. So much wind shear out there. That is also our protection for the east coast of the U. S. For now, lots of wind shear. But we'll be watching this tropical wave move west and a week from now. It could be a tropical depression or maybe a storm east of the islands pooling north. If it takes the northern fork of the road, it could be an issue for Bermuda. If it stays south, though, that's how it could enter the Caribbean, and that could become a problem for the Gulf Coast of the U. S. About two weeks from now.
